Technical Tool Overview: Summer Fabric Comfort Estimator
This tool calculates the Evaporative Resistance ($R_{et}$) of a garment. In hot weather, the body relies on sweating to cool down. If a fabric has high resistance, sweat cannot evaporate, leading to a rise in core body temperature.
Functional Logic & Architecture
- The Fiber Factor: * Cotton/Linen (High Score): Hydrophilic fibers that absorb moisture and allow it to evaporate.
- Polyester (Low Score): Hydrophobic fibers that act like a plastic wrap, trapping heat.
- The GSM Penalty: Even if a fabric is 100% cotton, if it is too heavy (high GSM), the thickness blocks the kinetic energy of air molecules, reducing breathability.
- Weave Geometry: * Open Weave: High air permeability (allows wind to hit the skin).
- Satin/Tight Weave: Low permeability; even light fabrics can feel hot if the “holes” between threads are too small.
Features & Capabilities
- Predictive Heat Stress Analysis: Warns users if a fabric blend will act as a “Heat Trap.”
- 4px Compact UI: Designed for quick data entry by textile lab technicians or retail sales staff.
- Wicking Profile: Factors in the GSM to ensure that the “Lightness” of a summer suit is mathematically verified.
Industry Use Cases
- Summer Collection Marketing: Used by Rangeen Jora to label their “Pure Voile” and “Premium Lawn” with a “Breathability Score.”
- Uniform Design: Helping DIHOD Software House corporate clients choose fabrics for employees working in field environments.
- Consumer Education: Helping buyers understand why a slightly more expensive linen shirt is better for their health than a cheap synthetic one.
