What is eGFR?
The Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) is the best way to measure how well your kidneys are working. It is calculated using a blood test for Creatinine, a waste product that comes from muscle wear and tear. Understanding Kidney Stages
Normal (eGFR > 90)
Kidneys are working at full capacity. Maintain this with hydration and a balanced diet.
Mild Decrease (eGFR 60-89)
Often normal in elderly people, but should be monitored if other health issues like Diabetes exist.
Serious (eGFR < 60)
If consistent for 3 months, it may indicate Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Consult a Nephrologist.
