Technical Tool Overview: Rainwear Coverage Estimator
This tool utilizes Geometric Projection to determine how much “Shadow” a garment casts over the human frame during precipitation.
Functional Logic & Architecture
- The Zonal Protection Factor:
- Short Jacket (45%): Protects the “Vital Core” (Chest/Back) but leaves the pelvic girdle and legs exposed to run-off.
- Trench Coat (75%): Extends protection to the thighs, significantly reducing “Splash-back” from the ground.
- Full Suit (95%): Near-total occlusion, leaving only the face and hands exposed.
- The Overlap Variable: In a two-piece system, the “Drip Line” is critical. If a jacket overlaps the trousers by less than 2 inches, wind-driven rain can move upward (Capillary Action), causing the wearer to get wet from the bottom up.
- Wind-Angle Vector: Rain rarely falls vertically. High wind shifts the rain vector, meaning a garment that offers 90% coverage in a calm drizzle might only offer 70% in a storm as rain hits the “unshielded” gaps beneath the hem.
Features & Capabilities
- Sleek 4px UI: High-density inputs allow for fast comparisons between different product designs.
- Environmental Stress Testing: Factors in wind to show how “Real-world” protection differs from “Static” lab tests.
- System Integration: This logic helps DIHOD Software House create “Smart Recommendations”—if a user buys a short jacket, the system can automatically suggest waterproof trousers to bridge the coverage gap.
Industry Use Cases
- Product Specification: Helping brands like Rangeen Jora label their products as “Urban Rainwear” vs. “Professional Storm Gear.”
- Performance Testing: Providing data for Tech Packs to ensure that hems and overlaps are long enough for functional safety.
- E-commerce Guides: Visualizing for the customer why a longer coat is a better investment for rainy climates.
