Creshy Layering Fit Engine

Layering Estimator

Calculate the ideal size for your outermost layer.

Technical Tool Overview: Layering Estimator

The Layering Estimator solves the “Matryoshka Effect” in clothing. Every layer of fabric has a physical thickness (measured in millimeters or GSM). When wrapped around the body, that thickness is multiplied by $2\pi$ to determine the increase in circumference.

Functional Logic & Architecture

  • The Accumulative Ease Algorithm: The tool sums the “Standard Thickness Offsets” for each layer:
    • Base Layer: Minimal impact, usually absorbed by the body’s soft tissue.
    • Mid Layer: Adds significant bulk. A wool sweater doesn’t just add its thickness; it adds “Air Traps” for insulation, which increases the diameter of the torso.
    • Outer Shell: Must accommodate the total sum of everything beneath it.
  • Mobility Check: If the cumulative offset exceeds 3.5 inches, the algorithm triggers a “Size Up” warning. This is crucial for brands like Rangeen Jora when selling winter shawls or structured jackets over traditional lawn suits.
  • Armhole & Sleeve Logic: While the tool displays “Chest Ease,” the advice section factors in the “Armhole Friction” that occurs when multiple sleeve seams stack on top of each other.

Features & Capabilities

  • Preset Material Profiles: Users don’t need to know fabric thickness; they just select the garment type (e.g., “Puffer” or “Fleece”).
  • Dynamic Sizing Advice: Translates technical inch-offsets into actionable consumer advice (e.g., “Buy one size larger”).
  • Visual Confidence: Provides a “Total Volume” metric that helps users understand why their clothes might feel tight in winter despite no change in body weight.

Industry Use Cases

  • E-Commerce “Complete the Look”: For DIHOD Software House clients, this tool can be used on a “Bundle” page where a user is buying a shirt and a jacket together.
  • Winter Collection Strategy: Helps retail staff guide customers in-store on whether a specific coat is “Layer-friendly.”
  • Technical Outdoor Gear: Essential for hiking or skiing brands where “Three-Layer Systems” are the performance standard.
