Fabric Estimator
Calculate unstitched lawn requirements for Kameez/Suits.
Technical Tool Overview: Lawn/Suit Fabric Calculator
The Lawn Fabric Calculator addresses a specific mathematical problem in South Asian tailoring: the interaction between Garment Panels and Fabric Width (Arz).
Functional Logic & Architecture
- The Arz Optimization: Fabric is usually sold in two widths: 40 inches (Standard) and 60 inches (Bara Arz).
- Standard Width (40″): The tool assumes the front and back panels are cut one after the other.
- Large Width (60″): The tool optimizes the math, assuming the front and back can be cut side-by-side if the body width allows, significantly reducing the required length.
- Hemming & Seam Allowances: The algorithm automatically adds 6 inches to the total length for standard width. This accounts for:
- 2″ for the bottom hem (Daman).
- 1″ for shoulder seams.
- 2″ for sleeve hemming.
- 1″ for shrinkage buffer.
- Fractional Rounding: Fabric shops sell in quarter-meter increments (0.25m). The tool uses
Math.ceil(meters * 4) / 4to ensure the user never buys too little fabric.
Features & Capabilities
- Dual Measurement Output: Provides results in both Meters (standard in Pakistan) and Yards (standard in the UK/USA and some local markets).
- Width-Aware Math: Instantly changes the requirement based on whether the fabric is a “Standard” or “Bara” Arz.
- User-Friendly Logic: Simplifies complex tailoring math into three simple inputs, making it perfect for the non-professional audience on Creshy.
Industry Use Cases
- E-Commerce Product Pages: Brands like Rangeen Jora can embed this to help customers decide if they should buy a “2-Piece” or “3-Piece” unstitched suit.
- Tailoring Management: DIHOD Software House can integrate this into custom CMS platforms for boutiques to calculate fabric consumption for bulk client orders.
- Inventory Control: Helps retailers estimate how many suits can be cut from a single 50-meter fabric “Thaan” (roll).
