PDF OCR & Text Extractor
Convert scanned PDFs or images into editable and searchable text.
Introduction
This OCR tool uses Optical Character Recognition to “read” the text inside scanned documents and photos. Most scanners save pages as images, which makes the text impossible to search or copy. This tool solves that by identifying characters in the image and converting them into real, digital text you can edit and search.
Features
- Recognition for scanned PDFs and photos
- Batch processing for multiple images at once
- Eight supported languages, including combinations
- Adjustable scan quality for speed vs. accuracy
- Cancel a job in progress
Benefits
- No manual retyping
- Makes scanned files searchable and copyable
- Runs entirely in your browser
- Secure β nothing is uploaded to a server
- Export straight to a .txt file
How to Use PDF OCR
- Upload: Drop in a scanned PDF, or select one or more images (JPG/PNG).
- Choose languages: Pick every language that appears in the document β select more than one for mixed-language pages.
- Pick a quality: “Fast” is quicker for clean scans; “High accuracy” helps with faint or small text.
- Recognize: Tap “Start OCR Recognition.” Pages or images process one at a time, with a live progress bar.
- Export: Copy the text to your clipboard, or download it as a .txt file. You can also edit it directly in the box first.
Why Use This?
Manually retyping a ten-page scanned report wastes time better spent elsewhere. Whether it’s a lawyer working through old contracts, a student with scanned notes, or an office worker processing invoices, OCR automates the extraction step so you can focus on the actual content.
Tips for Best Results
- Make sure the scan is clear, upright, and well-lit.
- High-resolution scans (around 300 DPI) work much better than blurry phone photos.
- Avoid documents that are mostly handwriting β OCR is tuned for printed fonts.
- If accuracy looks off, try the “High accuracy” quality setting or double-check the language selection.
